Meeting of December 23rd, 2009
Only 9 Lions in attendance today.

Lion President Dean did double duty today by acting as Tailtwister as well as conducting the meeting. He opened the meeting with a quote from Helen Keller and a humorous story by Dave Barry.

We sang Happy Birthday to Lion Julie Ward. She wasn’t able to be at the meeting, but we sang to her anyway.

Pres. Dean read a card from Louise Parlette thanking the Lions for the Christmas Party held for the Starlight Club members. We also received a thank you from Equestrian Therapy for our donation.

Committee Reports: PDG Larry advised that he had taken eyes to Columbus on Tuesday. Lion Bill said he had received several applications for eye exams and glasses for the sight committee. He also gave a recap of the party for the Starlight Club. Lion Dave Staley acted as Santa again this year. The party was well attended with approximately 50 in attendance.

Lion President Dean gave an update on his meeting with the Lima City Schools regarding sponsoring a vocal music program and naming it after Lion Jack Blackburn in his memory.

50/50 weekly drawing of $10.00 was won by Lion Corrine. The quarterly drawing of $62.00 was won by Lion Carol.

In lieu of a program PDG Larry held an open discussion on continuing our efforts to recruit new members.

Lion President Dean advised that there will be a Board Meeting at Lock Sixteen on January 6, 2010 beginning at noon.

Respectfully submitted by Lion Carol Swords.

Fred

I am delighted to report that the Lion's Host Club raised $ 670.46 at the Post Office. Wow, that's great! You did an outstanding job.

Thank you so much for all that you did to make Saturday such a great morning at the Post Office. The members of Lima Sr. High Band did an excellent job as well. Groups playing at the kettle is a tradition that brings smiles on many faces as people past by and drop donations off for the Army.

Be sure to thank the club in my behalf and I will follow this message with an official letter of thanks to the club.

Many Blessing!
Maj. Phil
